Illustrator tips

1. Separating figure panels into separate layers

Section titled “1. Separating figure panels into separate layers”
  1. Create a new layer in the layer menu.
  2. Double click on the layer name. The box that pops up allows you to label it whatever you want. I usually give it the panel letter.
  3. Select all the objects that you want to be in the new layer you created (use the black arrow, not the white one). Hold shift to select multiple objects.
  4. Cut out the objects (Ctrl+x on PC).
  5. Click the layer you want to put the objects in to select it.
  6. Click anywhere outside the art board (grey area) of your figure.
  7. Paste the objects specifically in their previous location (Ctrl+f, NOT Ctrl+v).
  8. Feel free to lock the layer now by pressing on the lock in the layers menu. This will make it easier to work with the remaining layers.
