1.1 Coomassie Staining Solution (500 mL)

  • 50 mL Glacial Acetic Acid
  • 225 mL Methanol
  • 225 mL H2O
  • 1.25g Coomassie Brilliant Blue R250

1.2 Destain Solution (2L)

  • 200 mL Glacial Acetic Acid
  • 900 mL Methanol
  • 900 mL H2O

2. Procedure

Section titled “2. Procedure”
  1. Stain gel for 5 - 30 minutes (overnight OK).
  2. Wash gel 2x in water to remove excess dye.
  3. Destain gel in Destain Solution for 1-2 hours.
  4. Store gel in water once destained.
